After months of speculation Barcelona announced on Wednesday that they have finally got their man.
Frenkie de Jong will arrive at the Camp Nou in the summer on a five-year deal for an initial €75 million.
It’s a massive fee for a youngster who’s only played 65 games for Ajax, but the stats highlight exactly why Barca were so keen to snap up the Dutch star.
9.7 - Frenkie de Jong has lost possession with only 9.7% of his touches in the Eredivisie since his debut, a lower percentage than any other player (min. 500 touches) in that period. Flawless. pic.twitter.com/PLJVXSi7ZR— OptaJohan (@OptaJohan) January 23, 2019

Barcelona purchased one hell of a player. That price is eyewatering for a player from the Eredivisie, but given how many super clubs wanted him, it's not a huge surprise. pic.twitter.com/KRaXoWiOmf
