Barcelona and Juventus transfer target Matthijs de Ligt spoke out and said that he didn’t want to leave Ajax this winter. The Ajax captain has starred as a central defender for the Dutch team, doing so well he’s already the captain at age 19.

“I’m not afraid, but I don’t want to leave Ajax in this transfer window,” he said.

“We have trophies to win and we all have to stay so we can bring success to our club.”

Should De Ligt have a great spring with Ajax, he could change his mind this summer. Plus, in the past Ajax have done well selling high on young prospects. Part of the reason De Ligt apparently shut down the move to Barcelona was the consistency the club already have at the central defender spot.

However, if De Ligt sees more injuries at the central defender spot at Barcelona in the next few months maybe his mind will be changed in the near future.
