La Liga president Javier Tebas says October’s Clasico can not be played on December 18 amid speculation the match could be moved to later in the year.
The fixture at the Camp Nou is under threat due to protests in the city, and speculation has suggested it could be moved to December 18th.
However, Tebas says that is unlikely to happen because of the Copa del Rey.
“ There are things coming out. They said that the federation have said but I don’t think they have said any date. The ones who will put the date on the table is the Competition Committee because there is a different procedure. Now, we here at LaLiga, have started a procedure to change the schedule.
”In the case that they don’t changed the game, you have to put a date and this is a different procedure. They have said 18 December when there is Copa del Rey. I think they that if the Copa del Rey is already devalued then putting a Clásico on the day on top of that then it’s completely devalued. It can’t be put on that day, you have to sit down and make a date. I hope that the committee can change the order.”

Reports on Thursday have suggested that Barcelona have ruled out the other suggestion, switching the game to the Santiago Bernabeu, meaning it is not clear at present exactly when or where the game will take place.
