Barcelona teenage sensation Ansu Fati keeps getting plaudits, and this time, it comes from one of the best known football magazines in the world: L’Equipe.

The French outlet, responsible for the Ballon d’Or award, has included Fati in a list of players 17 or younger who they see as the most promising in Europe. Apart from the Barcelona forward, the list includes Joelson Fernandes (Sporting CP), Sebastiano Esposito (Inter Milan), Kramoko Dembélé (Celtic), Mohamed Ihattaren (PSV Eindhoven), and Karim Adeyemi (Red Bull Salzburg).

L’Equipe says that while he was unknown a few months ago, Fati is now becoming a name even casual football fans are aware of. They say that Lionel Messi has taken him under his wing, and he the teenager has impressed with his showings for the Barcelona senior team.

The profile also includes a quote from Francisco José “Lobo” Carrasco, a former player who was a feature of Barcelona teams in the 70s and 80s. Carrasco praised Fati’s maturity, saying: “the mental factor is 30 or 40 percent of success. If you don’t have that, you can’t fight with the ‘monsters’ there are at Barça. In addition to his talent, he looks very mature for his age. When he gets the ball, he seems calm, without doubts, like Kylian Mbappé when he debuted with Monaco.”
