FC Barcelona’s defense will be missing many starters, if not all its starters, as they host Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.

They will be without both starting fullbacks (Jordi Alba and Nélson Semedo) through injury and will be missing Gerard Piqué through suspension. On the bright side, Clément Lenglet might be declared fit in time. However, if he is not cleared, then Barcelona will be without all of their starters in defense.

Junior Firpo could return as left back in place of Alba, while Sergi Roberto should be in line to replace Semedo at right-back. Moussa Wagué was given the start when Roberto and Semedo were unavailable, but he’d drop to the bench. In defense, Lenglet should be partnered by Samuel Umtiti. Umtiti has had trouble completing more than one game in a week for a very long time due to injury trouble. Should either be unavailable Ronald Araújo or Jean-Clair Todibo would be called on.

Todibo should be first in line, theoretically, as he is a senior player and Araújo is a B teamer. However, rumors lately have said that Ernesto Valverde prefers the latter, to the point of being open to approving the sale of Todibo.
