Barcelona have been dealt a blow as goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has been ruled out of action for the next six weeks with a calf injury.

The Dutch star picked up the problem in training just days after starring in the club’s 6-1 thrashing of Sevilla in the Copa del Rey.

The injury means that Cillessen will miss both legs of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid, although he should be fit for the final if the holders progress.

Cillessen has only been used in the cup competitions this season but has impressed whenever he’s been in the team and is arguably Europe’s best back-up goalkeeper.

It’s a real shame that he will miss the two games with Real Madrid, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen expected to feature in his place.
