Atletico Madrid and Barcelona wrote their names into the history books on Sunday as they broke the record for the biggest crowd to ever watch a women’s football match.

A crowd of 60, 379 packed into the Wanda Metropolitano stadium to watch the two sides in action.

The attendance beats the previous record of 48,121 which was set in January in a Copa de la Reina match between Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona Femeni gave the away supporters plenty to cheer about too, as they ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Asisat Oshoala and Toni Duggan.

The win means Barca cut the gap to league leaders Atletico to just three points in the Primera Division Femenina.
