FC Barcelona are keen on Luka Jović and will reject Antoine Griezmann next summer, according to Diario SPORT. Barcelona have been scouting the Eintracht Frankfurt forward for a while and have been impressed with his great form in the Bundesliga.
Jović is technically a Benfica player, but it is widely expected that Frankfurt will trigger their buy clause and sign him on a permanent basis. Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea are interested as well.
According to previous rumors, the Frenchman is keen on leaving Atlético Madrid and joining the blaugrana. However, three things count against him: his age, his cost, and his previous rejection of Barça.
Griezmann is already 28 and will cost 120 million euro, plus a massive salary. There’s also the fact that he seemed to have everything ready to join Barcelona last summer but at the last moment decided to stay in Madrid. He made the decision via a live TV documentary which was seen as embarrassing for the Catalans.
Jović is just 21 and will be more affordable both in terms of transfer fee and salary. If he signs, he will at first be Luis Suárez’s backup most probably, but he will, in time, replace the Uruguayan.
