Malcom ponders exit

Barcelona and Malcom’s agents will meet sometime at the end of the month to discuss the player’s future, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Brazilian came to the Camp Nou from Bordeaux, but he has not established himself in the team firmly. He had already considered leaving in the winter transfer window, more so because the club wanted it than because he did, according to MD. However, no offer fully materialized. The meeting is to look at the player’s future, not necessarily to prepare to sell him.

Tagliafico linked

Ajax fullback Nicolás Tagliafico has been linked with a move to Barça. According to MD, Barcelona scouts rate him quite highly and want him to come to the club. However, Jordi Alba is the undisputed starter at left-back, and it seems it’ll remain that way as he’s signed a contract extension. Tagliafico, then, would be the deputy, but the Argentine reportedly wants to be a starter.

De Ligt update

Negotiations between Barcelona and Ajax for Matthijs de Ligt are advancing well, according to TV3. Barcelona are in pole position to land the highly-rated defender, says the report, and the renewal of Marc Overmars as the Amsterdam club’s sporting director is great news for the Catalans. Overmars, a former Barcelona player, is said to be in constant communication with Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
