Barcelona B starlet Riqui Puig is set to be called up to the Catalonia squad for their friendly against Venezuela on Monday.
According to RAC1, the 19-year-old will join up with Gerard Lopez’s squad for the international friendly at Girona’s Montilivi Stadium.
Puig will link up with Gerard Pique, who is the only other Barcelona first teamer to have been called up, although Xavi, Marc Cucurella and Marc Cardona are also in the squad.
Lopez has seen a number of clubs including Rayo Vallecano, Huesca and Real Valladolid refuse to release players for the game and now appears to have turned to Puig to bolster his options.
The midfielder is one of Barca’s brightest young talents and made his debut for the first team this season in the Copa del Rey win over Cultural Leonesa.
