Barcelona’s main rival to the signature of Matthijs de Ligt is Juventus, but they could be showing sings that they are no longer in the race.

First, the Italians are rumored to already be looking at an alternative signing to that of the Ajax star. Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus are interested in Benfica’s Rubén Dias, who is understood to be a possible alternative to De Ligt.

Second, another rumor, this time from Tuttosport, reports that Juve are looking to secure the long term future of Moise Kean. Kean was a player Juve were looking to include in their bid to secure De Ligt’s services, but they may no longer be interested in parting with the rising star.

Both of these rumors, if true, point to the Italians giving up the chase for De Ligt, making Barcelona clear favorites to land his signature. Other big European clubs are said to be interested, so it’s not as if it would be definitive, but it certainly would be a big step.
