Ernesto Valverde has named his Barcelona squad for Wednesday’s Supercopa de Catalunya and has included a mix of first team stars and B team youngsters as expected.
Samuel Umtiti is included in the squad as well as exciting talents such as Riqui Puig, Oriol Busquets and Moussa Wague.
Here’s the final squad for the game at the Estadi de la Nova Creu Alta at Sabadell:
Barcelona were given two days off after their Clasico victory on Saturday night but returned to training on Tuesday, although most of the club’s key players sat out the session.
The B team players training (and likely to feature vs. Girona): Iñaki Peña, Wague, Guillem, Chumi, Miranda, O. Busquets, Monchu, Collado, Riqui Puig, Abel Ruiz, Mujica and Kike Saverio.— Samuel Marsden (@samuelmarsden) March 5, 2019
Wednesday’s match should be a good opportunity to give some of the club’s youngsters and fringe players some much-needed game time.
Puig, Juan Miranda, Busquets and Chumi have all featured for the first team this season and will be hoping to feature against Girona.
The game may also be a chance to hand January arrival Jean-Clair Todibo, who has apparently impressed in his short time at the club, a debut after his move from Toulouse.
Fellow January signings Jeison Murillo and Kevin-Prince Boateng will also be hoping for a run-out, while Umtiti needs game time after a long injury lay-off but may feature at the weekend against Rayo Vallecano.
