What are we doing?

I get i, things change, we don't have Rijkaad or Pep anymore. But I would like to think some consistency in the coach's approach to the game can be understood. I'm not a big fan of bashing coaches, after all, they are our coaches. But I get a feeling EV doesn't have any other plan other than get a ball to Messi to an extent where even when Messi is not on the field he has to play like he is.

I'm watching the Huesca game and I can't help but scream at the screen at the screen. Why in the world does EV think 3-14-2 is good with the players he got? Why does he think Dembele can play the roaming 'Messi' role? Or better yet, does anyone know what his plan is for breaking down the opposition?

Let's take the first one, I know we do not have a proper replacement for Alba, actually, we don't have any. So if Alba is not on the field we don't have anythiing. BAD. our left forward movement is gone. At the very least, have a proper 4-3-3 with defined roles for each role. Since we do not have a speedy left back, we should have a speedy right back. OOPS. Semedo is on the bench. For comeone who EV does not play consistently, you'd think he'd at least play him in this one to give some forward impetous. Don't get me wrong, Wague is not tha bad, but there is nother problemt that I will talk about in a moment.

Second: Dembele roaming? Really? messi roams really well, but it took him 7-8 years to master it. Before then, the midfield play was ruled by Busquets, Iniester and Xavi and Messi almost always stayed on the right and just running onto the passes they made. Remember, the 90 goals a year? Dembele is nowhere near that. He hasn't even finesed his art of running onto the passes. And worse, by having him constantly running into the middle, he is crowding and aleady crowded midfield while reducing the options up front. We need hime sticking to the right side of attack to stretch the defense. We need our midfielders to show what they can do in our normal style. In scientific terms, when running experiments, you do not change multiple variables at a time because then you do not know which one had the effect on the new results.

And Vidal in Busquets role? Vidal is a hammer. Busquets role requires a a screwdriver. Vidal is the guy you bring in to disturb the flow of the game. Remember the Madrid game? He was a super sub then. He doesn't have the composure to hold the ball and distribute it. A perfect example is sometime in the early first half when he got a throw from Ter Stegen with a free field in front, he turned around to face the front and a Huesca player came from behind him and he turned back to the defence.

And finally, "Whaat are we doing?". I've been watching Barca all season and I still can't figure out our game plan. The best example was when some football pundits were discussing an upcoming game some months back and trying to decide who will win and one of them said, "If Messi plays, maybe they win. If he does play, then they definitely win". And that, in my own opinion, that is the problem with EV. He relies too much on Messi when it comes to attack. It's like he doesn't think his players can handle ayone else can help him.

Anyway, I have rumbled on long enough. let me get backto watching the game. Visca Barca!!
