It may be hard to believe, but Lionel Messi has his share of critics in his native Argentina. On the radio show, Club Octubre, the Barcelona star candidly revealed that his son Thiago even asked about it.

“My son asks me why they ‘kill’ me in Argentina,” the footballer admitted.

It was because of this that TyC Sports created a video to show the six-year-old child and his dad.

“They’re kids from Argentina who are your age,” the presenter said before rolling the clip. “They want to tell you what they think about your dad.”

“Hello Thiago, I’m Felipe. We want to tell you that we love your dad and the national team,” one kid says.

“This message is for you Thiago. Stay calm because your dad is a genius. And here in Argentina, we love him,” another says.

“Messi, we love you.”

“Your dad is the best in the world. We love you.”

“We love you, Messi.”

“I play football and I watch all his matches.”

“He should be proud of his dad because he has football in his heart and gives it to all Argentines. When I grow up, I wanna be like him.”

Those are just some of the messages the kids gave in the video.

Some kids also mentioned that they hoped Messi would carry Argentina to Copa América glory this summer. In the interim, he has the UEFA Champions League (with a semifinal against Liverpool tomorrow) to try to win, as well as the Copa del Rey final against Valencia.
