FC Barcelona are on alert as Atlético Madrid have officially announced that Antoine Griezmann is leaving.

The Frenchman reportedly has not told his club where he will be going to, however.

But what has been reported is that the Catalan club’s various factions have come together and reached a consensus: he is the man they want. That’s according to a report from Cadena SER, who considers it unanimous at this point - the various men involved in making transfer decisions for Barça think no other option brings you so much quality relative to his price.

Barça reportedly think that Griezmann does it all: scores goals but is capable of playing in many different areas, works hard, associates well with teammates, and knows La Liga.

That’s why the other forwards the Catalans are looking for are alternatives at this stage, only to be used if the capture of the Frenchman goes awry.

Mundo Deportivo writes he is willing to accept a pay cut to join Barcelona, although SER warns that he is willing to do that for several teams, not just the Catalans.

MD echoes the other report, however, in saying there is unanimity in Barcelona’s technical and sporting staff. They want Griezmann, whose release clause will lower to 120 million euros starting on the first of July.

The fans aren’t nearly as certain. The Atlético Madrid striker burned some bridges last summer when he was rumored to have accepted an offer to join Barcelona, only to rebuff them at the last minute through a televised special.

Barcelona seem to be willing to forgive him, however, and are keen on bringing him into the fold.
