Opinion: Luis Suarez has to be sold this summer

Luis Suarez has been one of Barca's best signings ever and one of our best strikers of all time. However, at 33 years of age, he has steadily declined over the lat couple of seasons, and here are my arguments on why we should sell the Uruguayan ASAP.

1. The Age Factor

Suarez is well past his prime and no longer posses the same stamina or speed he once had. This hits us defensively, as we are often left defending 9 v 11 owing to his and Leo Messi's limited prssing.

2.Recurring Knee Problem

Suarez has been having problems with his knee of late and he is unable to give 100% on the field. It is also not probable for him to be playing 40-50 matches a season, and he is very expensive for a super sub role.

3. Performances In Europe

Suarez has 2 goals in the last 2 Champions League seasons(19 games) and none away from home. Even mid-fielder Ivan Rakitic has the same number, and that too, one away from home.

This puts a humungous burden on Leo Messi, not only to create, but also finish chances in the final third, and often leaves the Argentine maestro short of support.

4. Lack Of Chances For Youngsters

Players like Malcom, Dembele and B-teamers Abel Ruiz and Rafa Mujica have been limited to restricted or no game time, because of EV's absolute unwillingness to try other options in the no.9 role.

5. Suitable Replacements Available In The Market

There are many strikers who are currently available in the market, some young prospects while few others are already world-class stars.

Luka Jovic, Joao Felix, Maxi Gomez and Jadon Sancho are all bright prospects while Alexander Lacazette, Antoine Griezmann, Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus, Sebastian Haller and Roberto Firmino are a little older yet have proven themselves time to again.

6. Financial Aspect

Luis Suarez is our second highest earner, and off-loading him would greatly reduce our wage bill. Also, if we sell Suarez this year, we can hope to milk some money from his sale, or directly offer him as a swap deal, to Ajax preferably. This will not be possible next season as no club would be willing to pay anything for a 34 year old striker.

This is my opinion. What do you think about Luis Suarez.
