Barcelona confirmed on Thursday that striker Luis Suarez is set to undergo surgery on his right knee.
The club have not said when the Uruguayan will return to action but will offer an update after the operation has taken place.
Here’s the club’s statement:
“The first team player Luis Suárez has an medial meniscus injury in his right knee and surgeon Dr. Cugat will perform arthroscopic surgery on the Uruguayan under the supervision of the Club’s medical staff. The outcome of the process and an estimate of how long the striker will be out will be announced following the surgery.”

Suarez’s knee issues are not new but have not stopped him being in fine goalscoring form this season with 21 goals in 33 La Liga appearances.
However, it’s possible he may not feature again this season. Barcelona have three games left of their campaign. They take on Getafe and Eibar in La Liga and then play Valencia in the Copa del Rey final on May 25.
