Barcelona B stars Riqui Puig and Lazar Carevic nominated for Golden Boy award

The duo are among 100 nominees

Barcelona B stars Riqui Puig and Lazar Carevic are among the 100 nominees for the 2019 Golden Boy award.

The trophy is given to the best player aged under 21 in Europe, and the initial list is stacked full of talented players.

Riqui Puig is one of Barca’s B brightest young stars and made the breakthrough into the first team last season featuring in La Liga and the Copa del Rey.

Carevic is a goalkeeper who joined the club from OFK Grbalj, a Montenegrin team, in 2017 and will turn 21 in March.

Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt was the last player to claim Golden Boy award which has also been won in the past by stars such as Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe.
