Aruro Vidal says his Chile team should be feared at the Copa America ahead of their opening game of the tournament against Japan on Monday.

The Barcelona midfielder comes into the Copa America after a fine first season with Barcelona and has warned teams to be afraid of his Chile side.

“This is a team you should fear from the beginning until the final,” he said.

“We hope to win that beautiful trophy. It’s important to focus on each match but we’re going to be under pressure from the first minute.

“We know we’ve got a lot of new players but we’re only thinking about winning the Copa, not qualifying for the World Cup.”

Chile have won the last two editions of the tournament but are not considered one of the favourites to lift the trophy this time around.

La Roja’s opening game against Japan will see Vidal come up against Takefusa Kubo, the former La Masia talent who has just signed for Real Madrid.
