The midfielder has explained exactly what he meant

Arthur has sought to clarify comments he made about having more freedom with Brazil than at Barcelona.

The midfielder said earlier this month “I have more freedom to go back and build the play” when he is with the national team but reckons his comments were taken in the wrong way.

“Brazil and Barcelona have two different styles at the moment, they are two different teams with different tactics,” he said.

“And I am adapting to both systems and can play in one or the other without any problem. The biggest difference is that at Barcelona I start to participate in the construction of play higher up, behind the first line of the opponent, I have to get the ball more between ones and arrive in attack, with Brazil I start further back.

“There’s not one way that’s right and the other wrong. I didn’t say that at Barcelona I don’t feel good and what I do with my club is wrong.”

Arthur is currently with Brazil at the Copa America. He missed their opening win over Bolivia after picking up a knee problem in a friendly against Honduras ahead of the tournament.

However, he will be hoping to return for their second group game which takes place on Tuesday against Venezuela.
