Lionel Messi says he has not given up hope he will lift the World Cup and has spoken about Argentina’s defeat in the 2014 final. He told TyC Sports: “God will say if we look at it or not. He is the first real quality defender to be at Ajax since Jaap Stam. At Netherlands, he has Van Dijk alongside him, he looks like he will follow De Jong to Barcelona which would be a good move.”
Barcelona are one of several clubs believed to be interested in Willem II left-back Diego Palacios. The 19-year-old is said to be close to a move to PSV Eindhoven, but both Barcelona and Ajax have spoken to the teenager about a move.
