Neymar Back To Barcelona? Top 5 Costliest Transfers

neymer.0.jpg

It’s good news for Neymar Jnr and Barcelona fans alike. But not yet. And in actual fact, the transfer speculation now hovers around Barcelona’s great rivals, Real Madrid whereto Neymar is said to be interested in going. If such a move were to be realized, one question could be asked. Would Neymar’s brash move to the Santiago Bernabeu set off a new round of fireworks along the terraces of the Nou Camp?

Remember Luis Figo? Back then, Figo made the definitive move of transferring himself to the enemy. It was in the heyday of the Galacticos. And as they say; the rest is history. But back to the here and now.

Neymar

A safe bet sees Neymar returning to Barcelona on favorable terms. Neymar’s transfer to PSG a couple of seasons ago was a record 198 million euros. But it wasn’t long after that when Paul Pogba and his agent broke the Glazer brothers’ piggy bank at Old Trafford. But it was only half what PSG paid Barcelona for Neymar.

Pogba

The thing with the underachieving Pogba raises a couple of interesting questions. If Ed Woodward gets his highest paid player to stay, will the gloves really come off at Old Trafford if the lackluster World Cup winner fails yet again to deliver to his true potential at club level?

And what sort of offers are being received for long-shot odds of Pogba going to Paris St Germain at yet another world record fee should Neymar make his way over to Barcelona. Or Real Madrid?

Mbappe

One player who should not be leaving PSG at this time is the young Kilian Mbappe who made his mark as the youngest goal scoring world cup winner since the great Pele. Wisdom suggests that he’ll stay because his (bigger) transfer day will come.

And then it’s easy money bets for his next move to be the next transfer record breaker, bearing in mind that PSG paid Monaco a massive 160 million pounds for the young man’s services.

Ronaldo

This mercurial genius left Manchester United for Real Madrid for a then very high fee of 88 million pounds, pipping the record-breaking transfer of Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid.

Coutinho

Would the sulky, silky Phillippe Coutinho welcome Neymar back? Would it matter? The manager, surely, has the last say where Coutinho will play. Either way, who remembers how desperately Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp tried to hold on to the young man who still seems to be quite happy at Barcelona FC.

Compared to Ronaldo’s move to La Liga, Coutinho’s transfer of over a 100 million pounds was nothing short of massive.

Finally, here’s a mouthwatering prospect well worth licking your lips over. He’s yet another French World Cup winner. The versatile Antoine Griezman is still at Atletico Madrid. But according to the latest reports, Griezman might be welcome at Barcelona. Assuming Coutinho stays and Neymar comes, just what giddy heights could Barcelona and, yes, you guessed right, Lionel Messi go on to achieve?
