Former FC Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés will manage Juvenil A, according to Mundo Deportivo. The club icon spent 22 years at Barça as a player, from age 10 to 32, and now will replace Denis Silva as the U19 manager.
MD considers it practically a done deal that Valdés will return pending only an official announcement. Last season, he successfully managed a youth side of lower-league club Moratalaz. With Valdés at the helm, Moratalaz won a Madrid regional championship against Real Madrid’s youth side.
Valdés returns to Barcelona five years after leaving on a transfer to Manchester United. He was the starting goalkeeper for three UEFA Champions League triumphs with the Catalans.
He is also a six-time La Liga winner and two-time Copa del Rey champion.
