Frenke de Jong has thanked new team-mate Carles Alena for handing him his No. 21 shirt at Barcelona.
Alena wore the number last season after being promoted to the first team but has handed it over to the new signing from Ajax who says it “means a lot.”
De Jong has previously spoken about how the No. 21 has a special significance for him as he sees it as a tribute to his late grandfather.
The move means that Alena will switch to the No. 19 shirt for next season, and he seems pretty happy with the move too.

De Jong is an exciting addition to the squad and we should see plenty of him next season, but let’s hope Alena is also given a chance to show he can play a role for the first team going forwards.
