Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has given Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann a shoutout on Twitter after the Frenchman paid tribute to the basketball legend in Barça’s 5-2 demolition of Real Betis.
Griezmann scored twice and assisted another goal in his Camp Nou debut, and after netting a magnificent goal, he went to the sideline, picked up blue-and-red confetti, and threw it in the air. He would later explain that he was paying tribute to James’s famous “chalk ritual,” in which the player throws chalk dust in the air before every game.

Griezmann is a noted basketball fan and has shouted out James in the past. In an interview given right after joining Barça, Griezmann compared his new teammate, Lionel Messi, to James:
“[Messi is] the #1, for me he is #1 like LeBron James in basketball. LeBron is the image of basketball, of the NBA, Messi is the image of football because he has something different to everyone else that you will only see every 30 or more years,” Griezmann said at the time.
