Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele both joined in with first-team training at Barcelona on Sunday as the club turned their attentions towards the Champions League.

The players were back in action after Saturday night’s 5-2 win over Valencia and were joined by their captain for the session, while Dembele also took part in some of the session.

Messi is yet to feature this season and is a major doubt for Tuesday’s clash at Borussia Dortmund. Ernesto Valverde said on Friday he didn’t really expect Messi to play in Germany, while the GOAT said in his interview with Sport he “didn’t have a fixed return date.”

Meanwhile, Dembele was ruled out for five weeks with a hamstring strain after the opening day defeat to Athletic Bilbao, so is not really scheduled to return for another week or so.

Barcelona are due to train again on Monday and will then fly out to Germany for their first Champions League game of the season.
