Barcelona confirmed on Wednesday that left-back Jordi Alba has been ruled out of action with a hamstring injury picked up against Borussia Dortmund.
The Spain international limped off in the first half of Tuesday’s goalless draw at the Westfalenstadion and is now set for a spell on the sidelines.
“Tests carried out have shown that the first team player Jordi Alba has a hamstring injury in his left leg. The player is now unavailable for action and his recovery will dictate his return.”

The club have refused to say how long Alba will be out for, but reports in Spain have suggested it is not a serious problem and he may only miss a couple of weeks.
Ernesto Valverde opted to bring on Sergi Roberto for Alba against Dortmund and switch Nelson Semedo to left-back, although he could now look to hand summer signing Junior Firpo a chance to impress in the coming games.
