Spain’s third-largest newspaper, ABC, will have to pay 7,142 euros to the Leo Messi Foundation after a judge ruled the Madrid-based publication defamed the foundation.

ABC accused the foundation of manipulating financial records, which caused the Messi family to counter with a lawsuit.

The judge has reportedly agreed with the Messis and awarded them damages.

The money will be donated by the Messi foundation to the Sant Joan de Déu hospital.

This news comes as ABC is embroiled in controversy after a writer made a racist comment towards Ansu Fati. Salvador Sostres wrote the young forward reminded him of a “very young and black” illegal street vendor running from the police. Sostres was criticized heavily on social media, most notably by Fati’s club teammate Antoine Griezmann.

The writer later said he did not intend to be racist, and it was simply a misunderstanding.
