Perhaps this is a reflection of the reality of FC Barcelona today compared to the one from just a few years ago.

After Benfica’s 3-0 win over Standard Liege, Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez (who plays for the Belgians) commented: “with Pizzi and [Adel] Taarabt, Benfica look like Barcelona.”

However, Benfica boss Jorge Jesus rejected the comparison.

“I will not say we are like Barcelona are now, nor do I want us to look like what they are now,” said Jesus.

“The one from a few years ago, yes … the current team has nothing.

“I don’t want us to look like the one from now, I don’t care about the other one, though.”

Barcelona have continued from a bad end to last season with a rocky start to this one, although they showed a good version of themselves in their most recent match, a 2-0 away win to Juventus.

What version will we see from Barcelona in their upcoming matches? Will Jesus be proud to be compared to Barcelona once again?
