Barcelona offered an update on Sergio Busquets’s knee injury on Wednesday after the midfielder returned to the club after international duty.
The 32-year-old opted to stay with the national team despite being ruled out of Tuesday’s game against Germany which Luis Enrique’s side won 6-0.
Barcelona have now confirmed Busquets won’t play against Atletico Madrid on Saturday but haven’t confirmed when he will return to action.
“First team player Sergio Busquets has been visited by the club’s nmedical Services team this morning and the diagnosis of a sprain of the external lateral ligament of his left knee has been confirmed. The player will therefore not play this weekend, and the evolution of the injury will condition his availability.”

Reports have suggested that Busquets won’t be out for too long. He isn’t expected to travel with the squad to Dynamo Kiev next week for their Champions League match but could be back for the game against Osasuna next weekend.
