Sergio Busquets is closing in on a return to action for Barcelona after suffering a knee injury while on international duty with Spain.

The midfielder has missed the games against Atletico Madrid in La Liga and Osasuna in the Champions League but could be in contention for Sunday’s visit from Osasuna.

Busquets has been training in the gym but was back out on the training pitches on Thursday as the team continued preparations for their next match.

Ronald Koeman has no need to rush Busquets back though with Frenkie de Jong set to return to the starting XI after being rested for the midweek trip to Kiev.

Miralem Pjanic is also available, while Carles Alena and Riqui Puig will be hoping for more minutes after featuring in the 4-0 Champions League win.

Barca will train again on Friday and Saturday before the visit from Osasuna, giving Koeman plenty of time to finalise his preparations for a match Barca really need to win.
