Ángel Rodríguez has responded to reports that FC Barcelona are interested in signing him by downplaying the link, saying it is “just rumors” at the moment.
The Getafe forward is said to be one of Barça’s final candidates to replace the injured Ousmane Dembélé.
“What I know is what has been published in the press. There is nothing at the moment. I’m calm and focused on Getafe. I’m leaving everything on the pitch for this club, and as things stand, there is nothing,” Ángel said.
“When the news is about a huge club like Barcelona, the repercussions are bigger, but since they are just rumors, I’m very calm.
“If they contacted me, I would have time to think about things. I have been here after many transfer windows with Getafe, and there is always talk that I will leave. That means I’m doing things well.”
Getafe are the surprise package in La Liga right now, standing in third place, only 7 points behind Barça. Ángel is their leading scorer, with 9 goals, although he doesn’t start every match.
Coincidentally, the Madrid-based club will travel to the Camp Nou to play Barcelona on Saturday.
“We are facing one of the greatest teams in the world, and on top of that, on their own pitch. It will be very difficult, but we have to continue at this level to get three points and play a good game.”
