Barcelona manager Quique Setién met with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in a Madrid hotel following the Citizens’ 2-1 win over Real Madrid, according to a new report.

Setién and his assistant, Eder Sarabia, were said to be at the Santiago Bernabéu as City overturned a 1-0 deficit. They watched from the stands in preparation. as Barça play Real Madrid this Sunday.

The pair congratulated Guardiola for his victory later at the hotel, while the City boss asked them how they were doing coaching the club he used to coach and captain.

Setién says he is a disciple of Johann Cruyff’s school of thought, and his gameplan may have a lot in common with Guardiola’s. When the latter was a player, Cruyff was his manager. Guardiola’s teams are noted for their build-up from the back, possession football, and high pressing, some concepts Setién also holds in high regard.
