The Frenchman sat out Sunday’s recovery session and trained away from his team-mates when the players returned to work on Tuesday after a day off.
Umtiti still not fit enough to train with his teammates this morning. With Lenglet suspended, Araujo could come in alongside Pique vs. Mallorca on Sat. Still four days for Umtiti to recover, though.— Samuel Marsden (@samuelmarsden) March 10, 2020
Clement Lenglet is suspended for Saturday’s La Liga game which means Umtiti’s latest injury setback comes at a bad time.
Ronald Araujo took part in the session and could start Saturday’s game alongside Gerard Pique if Umtiti doesn’t recover in time.
Barca still have three more training sessions before they head to Real Mallorca, meaning there is still time for Umtiti to prove his fitness.
Ivan Rakitic also skipped training on Tuesday with Quique Setien’s permission, interestingly the Croatian celebrates his 32nd birthday today.
