Barcelona have confirmed they have closed La Masia for two weeks and players will continue their studies at home amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Here’s the club’s official statement on the decision:

“FC Barcelona have made the decision to close La Masia for the next two weeks and to relocate all resident athletes with their families as a precautionary measure for coronavirus.

“During this time, the athletes will continue their education at a distance by following the same protocol as when they are selected with their respective national teams.”

All Barca’s youth team games have also been suspended for two weeks. The RFEF had already announced that all Segunda Division B games have been called off.

This means that Barca B and all the other youth teams will not play for the next fortnight, all academy training sessions have also been cancelled.

The first team will continue to train and are scheduled to play Real Mallorca on Saturday, but it looks increasingly likely La Liga will also be suspended before the weekend.
