Barcelona are expected to spend big once again in the summer transfer window on a replacement for striker Luis Suarez.

Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez is the favourite to come in, but Barcelona do have a Plan B if they miss out on the Argentine and it’s bad news for Arsenal.

Sport report that Barcelona’s back-up plan would be to move for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang whose contract at the club expires next summer.

The report reckons the Catalan giants tried to sign him in January but could not convince Arsenal to let him go even though the player had given the move the OK.

A price tag of €65 million is mentioned, although with only just over a year to run on his Arsenal deal it’s possible Barca may be able to get him for less.

Sport also have a separate report noting how Aubameyang has “close family” just outside Barcelona and reckon he would be delighted to move to the Camp Nou.

Aubameyang has been a massive hit at Arsenal since signing from Dortmund in January 2018 and has 20 goals in all competitions for the club in 2019-20.

He has spoken recently about how he’s happy with the Gunners but his future is likely to come under the spotlight if, as expected, Arsenal fail to qualify for the Champions League again.
