They’re just not progressing much

FC Barcelona continues negotiating with Marc-André ter Stegen over a contract renewal, but the latest rumor says that things are not progressing right now. Why? Because the player wants a massive salary bump and the club feels short on cash, given the huge salaries they already pay out.

According to a new report, Ter Stegen wants to double his current wages, because he is one of the most important players on the team. Plus, Barcelona knows that he is one of the best keepers in the world and do not want to let him go. But the club already has a huge wage bill, and are hoping to give him a more modest increase. The club has been in touch with his agent but it seems the gulf in the two sides’ positions over salary is quite large, with neither side budging much

The Catalans want to renew his deal for the long run, at least until 2025, with an option, perhaps, of 3 more years. And right now, they are confident a deal will still be made in the next few months. However, as things stand, there is minimal progress being made.
