Neymar signing “virtually impossible” for Barcelona

With revenues down, Barcelona surely cannot afford such a hefty price

Signing Neymar in the next transfer window is almost impossible, according to a Catalan newspaper quoting an unnamed FC Barcelona higher-up.

Neymar is one of the best-paid players in the world, and Barcelona already has the highest wage bill in the world. With the coronavirus hitting the football economy hard, it might not be possible to make such a huge purchase.

The official reportedly said the singing of Lautaro Martínez is more likely. The Inter Milan player would supplant Luis Suárez in the long-term, while Barcelona could rely on the likes of Ousmane Dembélé, Antoine Griezmann, Ansu Fati, and new signing Francisco Trincão to play on the wings, apart from Lionel Messi.

If Barcelona can transfer Philippe Coutinho, then they will be able to have more money to spend on new players. However, once again due to the market downturn, it will be hard to find a good buyer for him.
