Ousmane Dembele’s surgeon, Dr Lasse Lempainen, has spoken about the Frenchman’s recovery from injury and says the Barcelona forward is on track.

The 23-year-old went under the knife in February after suffering a torn hamstring and was ruled out for the next six months.

Lempainen told Sport that “Dembele is progressing as planned” and also added “I am very sure that he can return to the top level after six months of his operation.”

Dembele returned to Barcelona on Wednesday for the first time since his surgery to continue his recovery from injury.

The Frenchman can’t play again for Barcelona in La Liga in 2019-20, as the club have brought in Martin Braithwaite as an emergency signing. There have been reports he could return in August when the Champions League is expected to resume.
