Mario Kempes, also known as el matador, has given his blessing to his compatriot, Lautaro Martínez, if he were to sign for Barcelona. But the Argentina legend and FIFA World Cup winner says it’s not time to give up on Luis Suárez yet.
“Lautaro would be a good player for Barça. We all speak of Luisito Suárez’s replacement, but don’t leave Luisito Suárez for dead. The Uruguayan has strength, he has extreme self-confidence. He is one of those players that never puts his arms down and inside the pitch he is very important for the team,” Kempes said.
The Inter Milan striker has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.
“Lautaro could be an important signing, I will not deny it. He’s a young kid, with impressive power, who plays well, who has a knack for goals,” Kempes added.
“We all speak of whether he is the replacement or the substitute, but don’t hang up Luis Suárez’s boots yet. He still has a few years.”
