Barcelona’s pursuit of Lautaro Martínez has taken a big step, if the latest rumors are to be believed. That’s because Junior Firpo has reportedly agreed to join Inter Milan, a crucial step in order for the operation to be a success.

Barça are reportedly willing to offer Firpo plus €70 million in order to secure the services of the Argentine striker. Firpo would be valued at €41 million, putting the total offer at €111 million, equal to Lautaro’s release clause.

While this would not directly pay the release clause, the offer would satisfy Inter’s conditions for selling Lautaro, at least theoretically.

The biggest stumbling block is that Barça need to pay €70 million, which they currently do not feel comfortable paying upfront. In order to raise cash, it is expected that Barcelona would sell off several players to secure funds.
