Lionel Messi and Quique Setién have brokered a truce as Barcelona hopes to put a disappointing La Liga campaign behind them and focus on the UEFA Champions League, according to local radio.

The face-to-face meeting hopefully served to clear the air after Messi’s comments reportedly drew concern from his coach. After a loss 2-1 to Osasuna, Messi pointedly remarked about his team’s lackluster form since Setién’s appointment.

The one-on-one meeting reportedly took over half an hour. The players also had their own meeting in which they attempted to find a way to finish the season on a high note.

While it’s admittedly a small sample size, Barcelona’s convincing 5-0 triumph over Deportivo Alavés perhaps hints that the Catalans are getting over the hump.

Setién was rumored to be on the hot seat after the lackluster end to the league, but if he’s been able to negotiate peace with his captain, that may point to him staying on until at least the end of the season.
