FC Barcelona is expected to demand restitution from Nike over defective shirts created by the American sportswear giant. The shirts were on the brink of being sold to the public when it came to light that the colors fade when exposed to sweat or cleaned with water.

The rollout of the shirts will be delayed and Barcelona are expected to lose money as a result. Because of this, the club is seeking money from Nike to offset the losses.

There is also a suspicion that Nike is preparing to sell some of the defective shirts through its own channels, and Barcelona wants that halted immediately.

It is not yet known what the exact cost of the error will be, but Barcelona are especially sensitive to losses right now after the coronavirus pandemic rocked the footballing world.

Nike has a contract to be Barcelona’s kitmaker until 2028.
