Ansu Fati to receive one-match suspension for Espanyol red card

It looks like Ansu Fati will only receive a one match ban for his sending off in yesterday’s match against Espanyol. The Barcelona youngster received a red card after VAR made it clear to the referee that Fati’s challenge was worse than initially thought.

The rules make it clear that under this type of foul, Fati should only miss one match, seeing him return for the Osasuna match. If the foul was viewed as an attempt to injure the player, Fati could have seen a month missed. Barcelona can file an appeal until Thursday afternoon.
