FC Barcelona could be on the lookout for a new left-back to compete with Jordi Alba, and it might be another transfer from Valencia.

José Luis Gayà has been linked with Barcelona, Real Madrid, and other big clubs in the past, but the 25-year-old Spanish international has yet to leave.

Barcelona may be interested in getting him should Junior Firpo leave. Firpo has been mentioned as a potential makeweight in big deals this summer. His name was brought up as a player Barcelona would exchange to lower the fee paid to Inter Milan for Lautaro Martínez.

Valencia has recently been selling off players and needs cash, so perhaps the fullback would be available at a cut-rate price.

He is La Liga proven, and wouldn’t command a massive salary, and might be able to challenge Alba for the starting spot. On paper, he may just be the right fit.
