Enough is enough.
Josep Maria Bartomeu should resign as soon as possible, and elections to replace him as Barcelona’s club president should take place as soon as possible.
His mismanagement of the club is legendary, with the latest humiliation in the UEFA Champions League clearly cementing his legacy.
His transfer policy is a shambles, his decisions on coaches seems to be as well. He has hired and fired the wrong people at the wrong time. He has wasted years of the greatest player ever, Lionel Messi.
We’ve all been talking about this for a very long time, as the problems became more and more obvious. There is no confidence in him now.
Barcelona has transfer business to attend to. A coach may be hired today. Time waits for no team to sort their president out. Decisions could be made by interim board assembled to replace him until a new president is elected. But the sooner you get him out, the better.
There have been whispers that Bartomeu is considering holding elections by the end of the year. Considering his term is up soon anyway, this is not good enough. He needs to do it much sooner.
Messi has been rumored to be ready to leave. Whether he wants to leave, truly, or is simply forcing Bartomeu’s hand, we don’t really know. But either way it’s a clear sign that it’s way past time to change.
