Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has stated that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants his club to land Lionel Messi as rumors that the Argentina star is leaving Barcelona swell.

Ferdinand wrote: “Just heard Frank Lampard is now in for #messi Some window this if Lamps pulls this off !!”

Lampard was a teammate of Ferdinand’s in the English national team, and both were rivals of Messi in their playing days.

Chelsea are just one rumored destination, with Manchester City, United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Milan just some of the clubs rumored to be getting out their calculators trying to see how they can land Messi.

The player has reportedly told his current club he is done after years of mismanagement from the board, which has left him angry at the president.
