Barcelona have confirmed squad numbers for Carles Alena and new-boys Francisco Trincao and Pedri ahead of their first match of the season on Sunday against Villarreal.

Alena is back with the club after a spell with Real Betis and has been handed the No. 6 shirt for the new campaign. The midfielder was handed the 21 when he was first promoted to the first team but handed that over to Frenkie de Jong and wore No. 19 last season.

Trincao takes over the No. 17 from Antoine Griezmann, while Pedri takes on the No. 16.

We’ve already heard about a few other changes. Griezmann will take on the No. 7 shirt, Philippe Coutinho reverts back to No. 14, and new signing Miralem Pjanic is the new No. 8.

It seems as though Riqui Puig will continue with the No. 28, and is yet to be promoted to the first team, while Barca look set to head into the new season without a No. 9 following Luis Suarez’s departure.
