Martin Braithwaite is close to making a return from injury for Barcelona after taking part in some of Monday’s training session at the Ciutat Esportiva.

The Denmark international has missed the start of the season with a leg injury but joined part of Monday’s recovery session after the 4-0 win over Villarreal.

There’s been a bit of speculation Braithwaite could leave the club this summer, but he said in August he’s not been in talks with any other clubs and wants to stay.

Braithwaite struggled for game time at the end of last season under Quique Setien, and it’s not clear how often he’ll feature under Ronald Koeman.

The 29-year-old could still come in handy, particularly if Barca don’t bring in a new No. 9 to replace Luis Suarez. Speculation persists Barca will dip into the transfer market, but if they land Sergino Dest they may have little funds left for any other players.
