Barcelona still want Memphis Depay, but his transfer is looking more and more complicated as the club doesn’t have a ton of money after the impact of the pandemic on the budget.
As such, the only way the Lyon forward would come is if the French team were open to a swap deal, as Barcelona thinks they don’t have enough money to buy him through cash only, according to a new report.
The loss of Luis Suárez to Atlético Madrid has left Barcelona with a potential opening in the starting XI, one that could be filled by Depay. He is not a pure #9 but in Ronald Koeman’s system that might be a good thing.
There is the possibility that Samuel Umtiti could return to his old club, although the stumbling block has always been his relatively massive salary compared to Lyon’s budget.
In any case a sale could help Barcelona. Jean-Clair Todibo and Rafinha are possible exits.
